Queer eye for the Dyke girl
Coming out and going out on the town to meet that wonderful potential partner/lover/friend may lead to some “what do I wear” dilemmas.
So here are some essential dyke clothing:
1. A decent pair of jeans - whatever you feel comfortable in and make sure that you they are a decent fit consider shape, size and type.
2. Camo / Cargo pants – the looser fit is in.
3. Vests – the White, Black or red – plain or with a small print on the neck or the front – the thick strap vests – thin straps with the wrong colour bra is definitely out! i.e. not cool
4. Jacket – Leather or Denim
5. Hats – any kind provided you don’t look like a dork. –

6. T-shirts – these are great – tighter for those who have the body to wear them, printed with cute logos especially logos that are guaranteed to catch attention.
7. Ties are IN! – small plain colour tie especially Jacket, tie with jeans
8. Some pin striped shirts
9. Some elbow length shirts – black, white, red and blue
10. A black collared, long sleeved shirt
11. Abercrombie & Fitch Abigail type of zip up hoodies
12. Shoes: boots – bulky “toe crunchers” like Cats, or All Star takkies (tennis shoes); Nike; - Chanel Quarter Boots are in, Cowboy boots are NOT.
13. A Power suit for the “power dyke”
14. Accessorize: if you have a cool tattoo show it off; belts depends what you are wearing; bags – should be practical and should hold your basic needs. – Studded belt is in!
15. Sunglasses are cool but we are not in the 90’s so wearing them on your head at a club looks stupid.
Fashion No NO’s:
1. The flanal checkered shirt IS OUT! Throw them away – unless you are going to ride that tractor!
2. Too much floral is OUT
3. White takkies (tennis shoes) – these are worn on the tennis court – I know Ellen wears hers with black pants but this is a NO NO and the Michael Jackson look of short pants white socks and black shoes also OUT!
As for the haircuts – I will discuss the 8 lesbian haircuts in my next blog
